The "Stevies"

Seeing over one hundred movies in the year means it can be nice to take a second and look back at some of the best things that happened in film, from the best villains to the best fight scenes and everything in between.

(nominations are in no particular order and are my personal opinion)

Best Fight
One of the best things about movies is getting to see fantasies played out before your eyes. What you could once only dream of appears as reality for the runtime of the movie. And some of those involve a fight scene or two. Even bad movie can have great fight scenes.
  • Avengers Assemble (Avengers: End Game)
  • Exocommunicado (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum)
  • Car Plant to Highway (Terminator Dark Fate)
  • Car Escape (6 Underground)
  • Le Mans (Ford v Ferrari)
  • Last 300 Yards (!917)
Most Surprising
Walking into these movies, I was not expecting anything great. But I left liking, if not loving them, and highly recommend anyone to see them.

  • Brightburn
  • Rocketman
  • The Two Popes
  • What Men Want
  • Doctor Sleep
Best Ensemble
One person delivering a great performance is expected. But a whole cast delivering on all cylinders is a beautiful sight to behold.
  • Knives Out
  • Dolemite is My Name
  • The Farewell
  • Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood
  • Good Boys
  • The Irishman
Best Looking
Perhaps the most overlooked part of a movie is ironically how it looks. When shots are properly composed, it can lead to works of art that could be hung in your house
  • Waves
  • Toy Story 4
  • Joker
  • Parasite
  • Us
